Swedish #1-2011 Nats in FSR-H & OTA

May 28-29 we raced the first Swedish 2011 FSR-H hydro nationals of the season and also the OTA 3.5 cc class (Outboard stock tunnels). Booth 3.5 cc classes where held on Saturday and 7.5 & 15 cc hydros where raced on Sunday.

The weather forecast was far from promising and it was quite a lot of wind (around 6-7 m/s). But it was not extremely bad water - just bad... But for sure it was far from being perfect!

(I forgot the camera battery on charge at home this weekend so all shots where made with my iPhone.)

TecnoPower race report.

Sometimes the sun came out but it was never "warm".

Stefan raced his new BlackBird G2 for the first time. This is on Friday practice. It looked really good on the water - even in the rough. Chris has done a good job developing it! :)

Mr. Sunken (Micke) testing one of his KEP's T2 .21 riggers on Friday. It looked good but he didnt dare to race it as his first boat on Saturday. Its a TecnoPower M03 engine in it that feels very promising.

Micke's stack of riggers.

My Aquacraft TS3 stock tunnel. It was quite fast and it handled the rough water really good - equally good as the best HTB290 I think.

Micke and my boats being loaded in the van before traveling south to Oxelösund.

Top 3 in H7.5:
1. Ellert Ohlzon
2. Anders Martinelle
3. Torbjörn Carlsson

I finished 4:th in H7.5 with my KEP's T2 .21 boat but with a TP .23 engine in it! It was a handful in the very rough water (it only weights 1.6 kg!).

Top 3 in H15:
1. Anders Martinelle
2. Micke Pertulla
3. Niklas Ericksson

Top 2 in H3.5:
1. Niklas Edlund / KEP's T2 .21 / TecnoPower M03 / Futaba 4PK
2. Ulf Olsson / Zip Kits JAE 21 G2 / CMB VAC
3. Torbjörn Carlsson (not in the picture - sorry)

Well its not a beauty shot but its me. ;)

Top 3 in OTA Tunnel:
1. Mats Angseryd / Aquacraft TS3 / OS / Futaba 4PK
2. Niklas Edlund / Aquacraft TS3 / OS / Futaba 4PK
3. Mr Sunken / Aquacraft VS1 / K&B / Futaba 3PM

The first race ever with the new TecnoPower M03-21 inboard engine and it won! Feels good... :)

Swedish Hydro Nats #4 Oxelösund September 4-5

This past weekend we had our forth nationals in 2010 in Sweden in the FSR-H classes in Oxelösund. Personally I had kind of a so-so day in hydro as I had a couple of strange engine cuts and a DNF due to over-driving it... So I ended up in fifth place. This would be my last race of 2010 as I can not race the last nats due to other commitments.

My picture album from the race - click HERE.

More pics HERE and HERE.

We dont have any "gators" in our ponds - just tiny snakes... ;)

Oroshaza day 7 - sunday

All hydro, off-shore 35 & off-shore 7.5 junior qualifying is now done! The day was hot and had as all other days here been without any "oxygen"... The hydro finals will be run tomorrow morning and are finished by lunch time.

I managed to hold on to my second place in qualifying and K-G Noddeland is TQ in H3.5. My Swedish team mate Micke is also in the H3.5 final - we booth run the Kep's .21 rigger you can download drawings for here on this blog. :)

The finals are run with 8 boats - four times - all final heats count. Nobody keeps any points from qualifying so everything now starts from zero again.

Wish us luck - its a beer, a cold shower and an early sleep on my shedule at the moment... :)

/Niklas

Two Kep's .21 sold

At the last nats in Ludvika I sold two of my old Kep's 21 riggers complete with everything except a Futaba FASST transmitter to two tunnel boat guys and they tested them this past weekend by themselves in their local lake in Eksjö. They are now happy outrigger owners! :)

More pics HERE & HERE.

What have we got ourselves into...?

Hydro testing in Eksjö in what looks like perfect conditions.

Benke got his Kep's 21 going...

Stefan almost sunk his one... ;)

Its repaired with Z-Poxy from Zap. Chop, chop, chop... ;)

Not too shabby for first time outrigger guys! I think they're hooked on riggers now. ;)

Swedish Hydro Nats #2 Ludvika 2010 FSR-H3.5

The second round of the Swedish hydro nats was run July 3-4 2010 in Ludvika in very windy conditions. Some of the heats you could only run at the very lowest speed possible as the waves where so high. I leaned it as much as possible on the water or it would have flooded and died I think. Most of the heats it was so lean that if I would have pulled the trigger WOT it would have died right away...

FSR-H3.5 Final results after 5 heats (4 count):
1. Niklas Edlund / 1600 p / Kep's 21 / CMB Valvola / Zoom carb / Fat pipe / Sholund H6-3.46 prop / 14% Klotz STP & 60% Nitro / O'Donnell blue plug

2. Jörgen Andersson / 1225 p / Eagle SGX / CMB Valvola & gear drive / Zoom carb / Fat pipe

3. Torbjörn Carlsson / 1025 p

4. Mikael Sundgren / 825 p / Kep's 21 / CMB Valvola / Zoom carb / CMD Parabolic

5. Christer Gustafsson / 775 p
6. Bosse Sandström / 550 p
7. Mikael Gartne / 475 p
8. Sune Persson / 469 p
9. Bengt Björkhage / 400 p
10. Fred Brihagen / 50 p

Ps, the boat Jörgen is holding in the picture here above is not the boat he raced with - its my YAP's 21 that is not suitable for our type of racing...

Please check out Nillas picture gallery from Saturday - click THIS link. Some of the pics here are borrowed from her. :)

Tobbes new 21 rigger in action.

Mickes Kep's 21.

Jörgen's Eagle 21 with gear drive was almost as good as my Kep's 21 in the very windy conditions... ;)

Bosse's 21 rigger.

Yes, it was rough conditions!

My Kep's 21 penetrates the drink pretty hard but I had zero DNF's. :)

Mickes Kep's 21.

Did I mention the water was rough on race day?

Check my Kep's 21 how deep it penetrates the water after a jump. Need to make the tub higher eventually...

Sune Persson finally got his 21 rigger to work.

Submarine almost...

No, it didnt stop but with water spray from the sponson tubes you know its not really time to prop-up. LOL

Benke was my co-driver in hydro. He did a splendid job. Now he and Stefan has their own RTR Kep's 21's - hope they will make it to the next nats in hydro also. :)

Next race for me is the NAVIGA FSR World Champs in Hungary. See U there.
